Leeds United transfer news as move for experienced international midfielder on the cards

Leeds United are reportedly a move for an unnamed midfielder who’s got the experience playing in a number of international games.

According to Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth on 14 July, the decision to target and perhaps sign this player does not entirely depend on the future of Tyler Adams.

The Whites are looking to bring in a central midfielder whether the United States international stays or leaves this summer.

The report reads, “The central midfield picture does not entirely depend on Adams’ decision because Leeds need more than just the American in there in any case. A quality operator in possession is key and Leeds have at least one experienced international in mind for that role.”

Who could it be?

Leeds have been linked with a number of midfielders over the last six months but relegation certainly narrows their options.

The players they wanted and who would’ve wanted to join six months ago, may not be as keen now to play in the Championship.

This puts Leeds in a fix and they’ve got to rely on Daniel Farke’s convincing power or some brilliant recruitment to find gems in the EFL or perhaps look at underappreciated players in the top European leagues.

It’s not going to be easy, but by the looks of it, they have someone in mind and hopefully, have begun work to sign him.

The finances should be there as the new owners would want to keep this squad intact as much as they can and secure promotion at the first time of asking.

Farke’s proven himself as a specialist in that department and hopefully, he can guide the Whites back to the promised land again.

In other Leeds United news, the club have been handed a boost to sign a Manchester United player this summer with Erik ten Hag likely to sanction his exit.
