Leeds United transfer news as interest emerges in Celtic ace Matt O’Riley – Sky Sports
Leeds United are showing an interest in bringing Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley to Elland Road, according to Sky Sports.
The publication reported on its website on Tuesday (29 August) that he is one of many players the Whites are targeting before the transfer window closes.
Sky Sports added that the 22-year-old is also attracting interest from Southampton, who were relegated from the Premier League last season alongside Leeds.

“Leeds are showing interest in Celtic’s Matt O’Riley,” according to Sky Sports. “He is one of a number of players they want to sign before the deadline.
“Southampton are also interested and could make an approach too. There are other clubs abroad keen on the midfielder as well.”

Difficult one
Leeds’ pursuit of Celtic star O’Riley looks certain to be a difficult one for various reasons, with other interest in the player perhaps top of the list of reasons why.
Southampton and the other clubs abroad may just represent a more attractive offer than the Whites given how Daniel Farke’s side have started the new season, and indeed their major struggles in the Premier League last season.
They are not exactly heading in the right direction, and that could put O’Riley off a switch to Elland Road this summer.
But perhaps more straightforward is his current Celtic situation, with the midfielder clearly a key piece of Brendan Rodgers’ puzzle at Celtic Park.
The midfielder has been one of the star men at the Scottish club in recent seasons, and they will no doubt want to keep him at all costs.
The Danish ace has made a superb start to the new season, scoring twice and providing one assist from his four matches in all competitions.
In other Leeds United news, the club’s bid to sign one player has hit the skids after a “violent incident” happened on Tuesday.
