Leeds United have held initial talks with Azzedine Ounahi and Angers in recent days as they plot more January action, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The reliable journalist has reported that the Whites will now decide on how to proceed with the Moroccan star, who is also wanted by Napoli among other clubs.
With Georginio Rutter set to finally be confirmed as a new Leeds player, Victor Orta could still be set for a busy end to the month with a third transfer on the cards already.
Writing on his personal Twitter account on Saturday 14 January, Romano shared the next plans at Elland Road with even more business expected.
“After Georginio Rutter deal, Leeds will decide how to proceed on Azzedine Ounahi deal as initial talks took place days ago with player side and Angers,” he wrote.
“There are many clubs interested in Ounahi, including Napoli which offered €15m days ago. PSG will not sign him.”
In these early talks, it is likely that Leeds will have learned what Angers want to let their star midfielder leave the club, as well as what Ounahi himself thinks.
The Premier League is a huge draw, and the midfield maestro proved he is destined for the top with his glowing performances in the World Cup over in Qatar.
Andrea Radrizzani was said to be a big fan of Ounahi too, so it would be no issue for him to finance a move for him as Orta continues his work this month.
Jesse Marsch cannot say he hasn’t been backed, and that means he will likely be given the chance to turn his fortunes around with his possible new signings.
With Rutter on the verge of being announced, all eyes could then switch to Ounahi with another major transfer on the cards at Elland Road in the next couple of weeks.
In other Leeds United news, Jesse Marsch approached the travelling fans at full time against Aston Villa and got a notable reaction.
