Leeds United transfer news as Fortuna Dusseldorf manager hopes for Ao Tanaka sale

Fortuna Dusseldorf manager Klaus Allofs is hoping for the sale of midfielder Ao Tanaka amid links to Leeds United, according to Rheinische Post.

The German newspaper, in its print edition on Wednesday (30 August, D5) reported that the 24-year-old has already informed the club that he intends to leave before the transfer window closes.

BILD reported on 28 August that Leeds were understood to be on the verge of signing the central midfielder who represented Japan at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Get him in

Leeds need two more midfielders before the window closes and it appears that everything is done with regards to Glen Kamara.

He’s not understood to be the top target and there are others that may be ahead in the pecking order.

Tanaka certainly seems to be one of them and the fact that the manager of Dusseldorf wants him gone means that he’s burnt all bridges there.

He’s seemingly been angling for a transfer for the past few weeks and he may force his way out of the club to seal a move to Leeds.

Thus far, there do not seem to be any other clubs as close as the Whites to sign the Japan international over the coming days.

With the German side desperate to sell him, Leeds can negotiate a lower price and get this deal done quickly.

In other Leeds United news, agents and personal terms update has emerged as the Whites have agreed a fee for another new signing.
