Leeds United transfer news as Fabrizio Romano drops Azzedine Ounahi update
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has dropped an interesting update on the Leeds United pursuit of Angers midfielder Azzendine Ounahi, with next week set to be key.
Ounahi shot to fame during the FIFA World Cup, starring in a classy Morrocan outfit that reached the semi-finals of the tournament in Qatar.
Romano confessed that a deal between Leeds United and the maestro “is not dead” and the club must decide how to proceed after already making big signings.
“Azzedine Ounahi deal. Leeds have to decide how to proceed with signings after spending big money on Rutter, deal not dead but other clubs also moving,” revealed Romano on Twitter (15 January).
“Next week expected to be key — as Napoli have offered €15m to Angers one week ago.”
Leeds United are making moves in the transfer window so far and with the signings of Max Wober and Georginio Rutter already completed, the Angers maestro could be their third.
It’s nice to see Victor Orta and co going full steam ahead after a questionable summer window, one which has ultimately left the current Leeds squad struggling at the start of the campaign.
Now, however, key areas are being addressed, a left-back who is versatile has been signed in Wober and a forward to ease the burden of goals off Patrick Bamford in Rutter.
Both of these were vital areas to bolster going into January and the club have done well to capture and solve these issues so early on.
Ounahi would be another solid option to have in the squad and Leeds United could do far worse than the Morocco international.
With luck, results will now start to translate onto the pitch, the Whites aren’t far off it but defensive frailties continue to wreak havoc on their performances.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now seeking their third signing of the month with a European contract rebel in their sights.
