Leeds United transfer news as Everton unwilling to give up Wilfried Gnonto pursuit

Everton are doing everything they possibly can in order to sign Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto before the deadline, according to Alan Irwin.

The Sky Sports journalist said live on their news channel on 1 September at 14:50 that the fact that they’ve got two exits sealed means they have room to manoeuvre in the transfer market.

The Toffees have chased the 19-year-old Italy international all summer but failed to agree on terms with Leeds.

Irwin said, “I suspect it could get busy for Everton. They are looking in wide areas. Gnonto is definitely a target But Leeds are playing hard ball. Leeds want to keep him and Everton are doing their utmost to prise away Gnonto. Couple of outgoings mean Everton can start dealing.”

Set to stay?

Gnonto has been throwing tantrums to leave for the past month, at the very least and he was even banished from first-team training.

However, Daniel Farke has taken a benign view towards him and reintegrated back into the squad and has spoken about his age and thus his lack of maturity.

It seemed like that settled his future at the club but it turns out that Everton are looking to throw a spanner in the works once again.

Leeds must remain firm and not sell him unless the Toffees are willing to pay astronomical figures to buy the Italy international.

Whether or not they even come in with a bid is a question that needs to be asked but so far, there does not seem to be any willingness that they will.

Luis Sinisterra is another player who’s linked with an exit and the club’s stance certainly will be to keep both players.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has spoken about Luis Sinisterra potentially leaving Elland Road on transfer deadline day.
