Leeds United transfer news as Ethan Ampadu deal now well advanced
Leeds United are now well advanced to complete the signing of Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.
In a tweet provided by Hay (17 July), the terms of the potential deal are yet to be finalised but it looks as if the Whites are set to secure their first major signing of the summer.
The Evening Standard reported on 17 July that Chelsea currently values Ampadu at £12million, although it is unknown what Leeds have currently offered to take him off their hands.
But Farke now looks to seal his first transfer as Leeds boss, with the terms still to be decided.
Hay wrote: “First signing close for Leeds United (as reported by Nizaar Kinsella) – centre-back Ethan Ampadu lined up to join on a permanent deal from Chelsea.
“Terms still to be finalised but well advanced.”
Optimism
Leeds United are now finally making moves in the market with the transfer of Ampadu now seemingly being close to completion.
Given the Whites’ current plight in the Championship right now, this looks an incredible and sensible deal by the 49ers and Farke, with Ampadu certainly possessing the qualities to thrive in the division.

The Welsh international desperately needs a new life away, a club which can give him the game-time and confidence to finally fulfil his long-held potential and Leeds United, undergoing a major revamp could provide that platform.
Chelsea clearly won’t be handing him any future guarantees next season which will have provided Leeds United with the encouragement to get this deal done.
Marc Roca became the latest in a long line of players to leave the club, with Rasmus Kristensen, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Brenden Aaronson among the departed, freeing up big wages for the 49ers to exploit.
Ampadu is a fantastic bet given his versatility, tactical understanding and composure on the ball, traits Farke absolutely loves and the Welshman could prove a secret ingredient for the German coach in the Championship next season.
A fantastic and optimistic start to Leeds United’s transfer business.
