Leeds United transfer news as deal close for Lewis Pirie from Aberdeen

Leeds United are on the verge of signing Aberdeen wonder Lewis Pirie with a six-figure deal now close, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper has reported on its website that the Whites are in advanced talks to poach another young Scottish talent, following Rory Mahady from last season.

Pirie has smashed home 51 goals and was also wanted by the likes of Celtic, although Elland Road looks to be his next destination with the move now close.

The Daily Record shared the news on their live blog today [01 July, 12:31] with a deal also lined up for Hamilton winger Joshua McDonald too.

The 16-year-old is set to seal his move by signing a scholarship contract, one that will turn professional upon his next birthday in West Yorkshire.

Aberdeen are entitled to training compensation but it is shared that any deal is likely to include future add-ons to sweeten the deal.

Lovely.

Even though Leeds are still without their manager and official confirmation of the 49ers Enterprises takeover, they are still making moves.

Nick Hammond has been given a short-term contract to oversee some transfer business, and he is making a strong start to beating many clubs to young Scottish talent.

Pirie smashed home over 50 goals for club and country last season and beating Premier League clubs to his signature after relegation makes it a real coup.

With a six-figure fee likely being agreed on very soon, it isn’t exactly spare change for a 16-year-old who still has much to prove when he makes the step up.

The 49ers must be bankrolling moves too, given Andrea Radrizzani has jumped in head first at Sampdoria, so they are showing their intent early on.

Hopefully, this continues on a bigger scale.
