Leeds United transfer news as Chelsea take time over decision to sign Tyler Adams
Chelsea are yet to make an immediate decision on whether to move for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams, according to Football.London.
According to the report (8 August), the Super-rich West Londoners are still taking their time on a decision to sign after reports emerged on Monday 7 August that they are said to be stepping up their pursuit of the American international.
CBS journalist Ben Jacobs reported on 8 August that Chelsea could try to sign Adams without having to pay his release clause which stands at £20m and are considering trying to negotiate a different payment structure with the Whites to get a deal done before the new season kicks off [The Athletic, 7 August].

Football.London wrote: “Adams didn’t feature for Leeds in the 2-2 draw with Cardiff at Elland Road but he was present and football.london understands that no immediate decision has been made by the club yet with the Blues taking their time.”
Leeds need a decision
The £20m release clause certainly means that Leeds United have very little sway in potential negotiations should a team decide to pay up but it seems as if Chelsea are a bit indecisive right now which only hurts the West Yorkshire outfit.
Adams will indeed be a big loss for manager Daniel Farke. The American’s leadership, aggression and suitability to Farke’s system at Elland Road means he arguably could well be the Whites’ biggest departure all summer, after the likes of Rodrigo, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca all seeking pastures new.

The Championship is certainly too small a level for Adams to thrive in and a Premier League return makes excellent sense for the former RB Leipzig man.
However, Leeds United still have some areas to address of their own and despite the sadness at seeing Adams go, they will desperately require the £20m fee to fund some transfers especially up front and a replacement for the American with the club currently targeting Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.
Leeds’ draw against Cardiff on Sunday certainly presented some issues for Farke to desperately fix, but of course, they can’t do that if clubs aren’t willing to pay the Adams release clause.
Chelsea’s indecision could prove very costly right now as Farke needs to strengthen his squad fairly quickly with just under a month left to go of the transfer window.
In other Leeds news, the 49ers may have no option but to let cash fly for one potential Adams replacement.
