Leeds United transfer news as Bournemouth agree to trigger Tyler Adams release clause
Bournemouth have agreed to trigger the £20m release clause of Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams, according to Graeme Bailey.
According to the 90Min journalist, taking to his personal Twitter account (14 August), the Cherries are hoping to seal a deal for the American international and talks are taking place in order to complete the signing.
The Daily Mail reported on 13 August that Bournemouth were hoping to revive their interest in Adams and now they are a step closer to signing their midfield target after Chelsea backed out of a deal to sign the American because of concerns over his injury recovery.
Bailey tweeted: “Bournemouth are hoping to seal a deal for Tyler Adams and have agreed to meet his release clause like Chelsea did previously.
“Talks are taking place. Other clubs are also keen, including Liverpool but no sign of them making a bid at this moment.”
The inevitable is happening
After Chelsea backed out of a deal to sign Adams a few days ago, there may well have been some optimism that Adams may be potentially staying at Elland Road beyond the summer.
However, there was always the chance another Premier League club would swoop in and trigger the release clause and it’s probably not a surprise to see Bournemouth activate it given their previous interest earlier in the window.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke has already seen several crucial players leave Elland Road this summer and arguably the likeliest to seek pastures new is now finally on the verge of following those players out of the club.
It’s a major surprise Adams’ inevitable exit has taken this long but his current hamstring injury was indeed a huge factor in his delayed exit and it seems as if the Cherries are now taking a punt on the American with the former Leipzig midfielder seemingly not close to a return.
However, Adams is simply too good for Championship football and certainly deserves another shot at the English top-flight and Bournemouth have enjoyed a stunning transfer window which will really be topped off with this acquisition.
Just how Leeds United plan to replace Adams is yet another problem for Farke to navigate through.
In other Leeds news, the 49ers also may have no option but to let cash fly for one potential Adams replacement.
