Leeds United transfer news as Atletico Madrid want to sign Tyler Adams and Rodrigo
Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Leeds United players Tyler Adams and Rodrigo this summer, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net.
The Elland Road duo have become critical players throughout the campaign, recording 54 Premier League appearances between them in Leeds’ desperate quest for Premier League survival.
Adams, 24, is attracting Premier League interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United [Football.London, 4 May] ahead of this summer’s window while Rodrigo has also been earmarked to quit Elland Road should they suffer relegation.
And according to Fichajes.net [22 May], the Spanish La Liga giants would be interested in signing the two players this summer, with Diego Simeone looking to bolster his squad for a potential La Liga title assault next season.
“According to the latest information, the team led by Diego Pablo Simeone would be interested in hiring both the American midfielder Tyler Adams and the Spanish striker Rodrigo Moreno, thus doubly reinforcing the squad of the Rojiblanco team for 2023-2024 which the main objective will be none other than trying to return to the fight for the titles, being able to close both operations for a total amount of 50m euros [£43m].”
Decision to make

With the Whites facing an inevitable and damaging sorry plight back down to the Championship, should results go against them on the final day, the club will be forced to sell many of their key stars this summer.
And given the huge influence both Adams and 13-goal Rodrigo have had on Leeds United throughout the season, it is easy to see why one of Europe’s biggest sides is currently courting their services.
However, Leeds United have a decision to make as they simply cannot afford to lose all of their key players, with potentially one or two players staying should they return to the Championship.
Adams, who only joined last summer, seems the kind of player who won’t mind staying loyal to the Leeds United cause next season, and given his leadership, incredible influence from midfield and tactical qualities, it will be hard for the Whites to replace him should he leave.
Rodrigo on the other hand, is approaching his twilight years and still has only a year left on his current contract which means the Whites may well be resigned to losing him, especially if Atletico Madrid comes calling – a last-chance saloon for Rodrigo to impress in his homeland.
However, Leeds United won’t mind that and can still claim a significant sum for his services. Though, if both players were allowed to leave Elland Road, £43m for both high-profile and huge marketable players seems way too little.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that an international player at Elland Road has no place at the club next season and a summer transfer is on the cards.
