Leeds United transfer news as 49ers will want to green-light new blitz
The 49ers Enterprises were in attendance at Elland Road for the 2-2 draw between Leeds United and Cardiff on Sunday 06 August and what they watched could start a transfer blitz.
The Americans took over the Whites in the summer and so far have made two additions to the playing squad, that being Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow, however, the new owners have made no secret of their desire to invest in Daniel Farke’s side.
Leeds had a mixed display in front of their new custodians, falling 2-0 down to Cardiff City inside the first half at Elland Road before Liam Cooper halved the deficit with a header and a 95th-minute leveller from Crysencio Summerville saw Farke’s men come away with a point.

But the good feeling that the late goal would’ve given many inside Elland Road only masked the work that needs to be done before the transfer window closes this summer, with more players needed through the door than ever before.
A striker still needs to be on the agenda, with both Patrick Bamford and Georginio Rutter both missing the visit of the Bluebirds and Joe Gelhardt on the bench, the frontline at the disposal of Farke looks rather light and in need of reinforcement.
The Mirror has reported that the Whites are one of four clubs that want Sory Kaba of FC Midtjylland and Sunday’s match may speed up any pursuit as although Farke has enough wingers to play one of them through the middle, it doesn’t bring the best out of the likes of Wilfried Gnonto.
On top of that, Leeds’ need for a new centre-back just became even more desperate after Cooper was stretchered off of the field having landed awkwardly after scoring the first goal of the new campaign. The 31-year-old has been the subject of transfer interest from Saudi Arabia and all this has done is emphasise the need for a new option at the back.

Nat Phillips still appears to be an option at Elland Road this summer, while Manchester City’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis but Cooper’s injury has just ensured that the 49ers know they need to strengthen their defence.
Left-back also remains an area that could do with reinforcement, Leo Hjelde is only 19 and had a difficult afternoon against the Bluebirds before he was substituted during the break for Sam Byram who did impress, but was a free-agent only a matter of days ago.
Once Leeds manage to provide cover for all those areas they could do with another attacking midfielder. Saturday saw Sinisterra deployed in the number 10 position and while he looked more than capable of doing a job there, a genuine attack-minded midfielder could be a bonus as there isn’t a clear example in the current squad.
Although the season has only just begun, the opportunity to watch their side in action will have only increased the importance of the task at hand for the 49ers between now and the end of August.
