Leeds United transfer news as £4.3m bid tabled for Fenerbache goalkeeper Altay Bayındır

Leeds United have made a €5million (£4.3m) bid for Fenerbache goalkeeper Altay Bayındır, according to Turkish outlet As Marca.

According to the report (20 July), the Dutch club have responded by demanding Leeds to pay his €7million (£6m) release clause.

The Whites are in the hunt for a new goalkeeper this summer as they plan for life without Illan Meslier or Joel Robles, and taking to their Twitter account (20 July), AS Marca report that Leeds have launched an official bid for the 25-year-old Turkish international.

They tweeted: “Leeds United made an official offer of €5million (£4.3m) to Fenerbahçe for 26-year-old goalkeeper Altay Bayındır.

“Fenerbahce requests the player’s €7million (£6m) release clause to be paid.”

Goalkeeper needed

With the Whites likely to receive bids for Meslier this summer, the search for a new shot-stopper has been made very clear and should be high on their priority list, after completing the signing of defender Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea.

Leeds United have been busy in their goalkeeper search Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow and Bayern Munich’s Alex Nubel reportedly emerging as targets, but it seems as if Daniel Farke and the club are going for another.

Leeds United

Bayındır was a regular presence in the Fenerbahce, recording nine clean sheets for his side last season that finished second in the league behind Galatasaray while making it to the round of 16 in the Europa League.

The Turkish international emerged as one of the best young shot-stoppers in the land and formed a key part of his side’s build-up play from the back, something that Farke is likely keen to add to his side as he looks to replace Meslier.

With Fenerbache demanding around £6m for his services this summer, it’s a solid valuation for the Whites to explore, and Bayındır at a great age where he’s still only young, with plenty of room to grow but already possessing great experience playing in Europe.

Should the Whites complete this deal, it would certainly represent a smart, affordable and exciting coup for Farke.
