Leeds United transfer business ‘on hold’ until new manager is appointed for 2023/24 season
Leeds United won’t be making any new signings or sanctioning any exits until a new manager is appointed, according to The Mirror (24 June).
The Whites were relegated to the Championship after a torrid campaign in 2022/23, which saw four managers take charge of the team across the season.
But after Sam Allardyce left the club at the end of his four-game tenure, the club have now put all transfer business “on hold” until a new manager arrives to take his place.

“That won’t deter Leeds from pursuing a deal, but until a new manager arrives to replace Sam Allardyce, who oversaw the final games of the campaign as Leeds slipped out of the Premier League, all outgoings and new signings are on hold,” they wrote.

It’s vitally important that the club get the major decisions right this summer when it comes to player recruitment, allowing players to leave and also who the manager of the team is.
It’s very sensible for the club not to sanction exits or arrivals until they know who that man is as they will have a vision for the squad and what players they want to work with.

They deserve the opportunity to speak to the players and get their vision across to try and convince them to stay, and also to run the rule over the squad about who they don’t want to be part of the squad.
Signing players or allowing some to leave without the manager’s input could be disastrous, but we need to ensure that they aren’t left short of time in the window too so things need to start moving quickly.
It’s expected that it will have some developments this week which would be ideal, because the season is fast approaching.
In other Leeds news, the club want to sign this starlet who got 17 G/A last season to replace an exit-bound star.
