Leeds United told to make £120m transfer ‘Gamble’ as Premier League claim made
Danny Mills has urged Leeds United to take a £120million “gamble” in the summer transfer window if they get promoted to the Premier League.
Daniel Farke’s men are in terrific form this term and sit at the top of the Championship table, two points clear of Sheffield United and seven ahead of Burnley in third.
Automatic promotion back to the Premier League at the second time of asking looks to be very much on the cards for the Whites this term but, if they do go up, former Whites defender Mills said it will be tough to cement their spot in the top flight.
As such, the ex-England international shared how many players he’d be looking to buy and wants to see the cash splashed to make it happen.

Danny Mills urges Leeds United to spend big
Leeds are looking unstoppable this term and it’s hard to imagine that they wouldn’t gain promotion to the top division at the end of this term.
Even when they were 1-0 down against Sunderland on Monday (17 February) two goals after the 70th minute ensured the West Yorkshire outfit came away with all three points, showing just how much power they have inside the squad.
Nevertheless, with the bottom three clubs in the Premier League the three clubs that were promoted last term, it does raise concerns about how sustainable life in the top flight is.
Last time in the top-flight, Leeds were able to extend their stay beyond just a season and there are other sides we see in the top half of the table that have recently been promoted so it’s not off limits.
However, when asked by Gabby Agbonlahor live on talkSPORT (20 February) if Leeds were set up better for the Premier League, Mills was honest in his response as he said: “I don’t think they are, I don’t think any of the Championship clubs are Gabby.
“I think you’ve got to buy four or five really good players to give yourself a chance because the gulf in class – a lot of these players at Leeds especially have played in the Premier League before and got relegated. So the gulf in class now is just getting bigger and bigger and bigger so you’re going to have to gamble, spend that £120million and get your recruitment absolutely bang on to give yourselves the best chance of staying in that division.”

Leeds United need to push the boat out for Premier League survival
As Premier League promotion seems to be edging ever closer, Farke and those above him will certainly need to start thinking about what the summer will look like and how that will affect Leeds’ chances in the top flight.
Joe Rothwell is reportedly available to sign on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window and as Mills says, having some players with Premier League experience who weren’t in a squad that got relegated, meaning this could be an attractive prospect.
The gulf between the top two tiers of football is growing and the Whites have to be able to adapt to that if they want to reap the benefits of being in the top flight.
Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see the West Yorkshire outfit trying to go all out in order to secure the right signings this summer that will allow Leeds to look towards a future in the Premier League rather than a short stint.
One thing’s for sure, the ease with which Farke’s men are gliding through games at the minute will not be replicated in the top flight. However, with the right additions, it could definitely be made a lot easier.
