Leeds United to reject any bids for Illan Meslier - report
Leeds United are expected to knock away any approaches that come in for Illan Meslier this summer.
According to LeedsLive, there have been unconfirmed reports of a bid from PSG for the French goalkeeper.
However, if in case it is confirmed and there is any offers on the table, they will be “vehemently” turning it down as they have no interest in letting go of the player.
Second-choice goalkeeper Kiko Casilla appears to be joining Elche and the Whites would not want to lose their number one and his backup in the same transfer window.
Have to keep him
At such a young age, Meslier has already proven his worth and we can’t wait to see the sort of player he develops into in the future.
The 21-year-old has recently been referred to as ‘Fantastic‘ by Alan Shearer.
Goalkeepers tend to hit their peak in their late 20s and early 30s, so Meslier, who’s only 21 yet, has a long way to go before he is in his prime.
Any club looking to sign him will be aware of the fact that they’ll be getting a keeper for at least the next decade, if not longer.
He will no doubt be in contention to be the French number one in the years to come but will have to fend off the challenge from Alban Lafont who’s currently ahead of him in the pecking order at youth level.
Players often tend to leave for bigger clubs to realise their international dreams, but we think Meslier is playing at a high enough level to receive the sort of recognition from the head coach of his national team.
The Premier League is undoubtedly the most competitive of the big five leagues in Europe and everyone has their eyes on the standout performers from it.
Should Meslier have another immaculate season, he would have to be at least a shoo-in for making the World Cup squad at the end of next year.
