Leeds United to pay compensation to secure Jordan Miles arrival at Elland Road, timeline set
Aberdeen’s head of recruitment Jordan Miles will be joining the ranks at Leeds United following the end of the January transfer window, according to Football Scotland.
The outlet reported on its website on Sunday (7 January) that the Don’s recruitment chief will depart for Elland Road in February having only joined them from West Ham United in July as he looks for a route back into the English game.
Leeds will have to pay Aberdeen a compensation fee for Miles’ services and he is reluctant to leave the Scottish Premiership side in the lurch, despite the fact that the Whites hoped to have him in post ahead of the January transfer window.

Instead, Miles will make the switch to Yorkshire following the conclusion of the January window as the Whites look to make their “assault” on the Championship playoff places.
New man at the helm
It’s a shame that Leeds United were unable to get this deal over the line ahead of the January transfer window as Miles’ services would have likely helped the Whites navigate this mid-season market to help their push for promotion.
But it is good to see that the 49ers and those in charge at Elland Road are already setting themselves up for future transfer windows as they get the people in place behind the scenes to help the Whites kick on to the next level.

It’s also a sign of intent from Leeds that they are willing to pay a compensation fee to get Miles’ to Elland Road, rather than looking for other options. They want the right people working out of Thorp Arch and clearly consider Miles to be one of them.
It may not be as exciting an addition as a new number nine or an electric left-winger, but this has the potential to be one of Leeds United’s most important additions in their quest to return to the Premier League.
In other Leeds United news, Middlesbrough will reportedly have to pay nearly all of Joe Gelhardt’s wages to sign him on loan this January
