Leeds United to make new appointment imminently after Daniel Farke news

Following the appointment of Daniel Farke as the new Leeds United manager, the club are set to announce a new goalkeeping coach imminently to join Farke’s staff, according to Yorkshire Evening Post.

A new goalkeeping coach is expected to be confirmed to replace Marcos Abad, as Farke establishes his coaching staff upon his arrival at the club, with three new coaching staff already confirmed.

This news follows the previous hires of Eddie Riemer as an assistant coach, Christopher John as first team coach and analyst, and Chris Domogalla as fitness chief, with Farke bringing in trusted names to help him as he settles into his new role.

Leeds also announced the departure of long-serving goalkeeping coach Abad, who joined the club in 2017, on the official club website, along with Guillermo Alonso, Paco Gallardo and Jordan Davison.

Trust among the coaching staff can be key

Farke is bringing in coaching staff who he knows and trusts as he looks to steer Leeds United back to Premier League football at the first time of asking. Trust and understanding among the coaches can be key to helping a squad understand their tasks.

The Athletic reported [3 July] that Farke had worked with Riemer, John and Domogalla at both Norwich City and Borussia Monchengladbach, so their working relationship is already established and a trust has been formed.

In a summer of turbulence and upheaval at Leeds, having the coaching staff in place early on in pre-season will allow them to get to know the players and get their ideas across with maximum efficiency.

The coaching staff a manager brings in can make all the difference to a squad, as seen with Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace, where The Athletic [17 March] reported that questions over his coaching staff were a reason for his dismissal in March.

In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke faces a ‘major rebuild’ already.
