Leeds United to go in strong for £17m Arnaud Kalimuendo

Leeds United are set to push Paris Saint-Germain hard to try and sign Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer, according to Tutto Mercato.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a fabulous 2021-22 season, scoring 13 times for RC Lens in Ligue 1 where he has spent the past two seasons, making a name for himself in French football.

The Whites are in need of another striker and Andrea Radrizzani, Leeds owner, is said to be going in strong to sign the French youth international for Jesse Marsch.

French champions PSG value Kalimuendo at £17million with another two years on his contract at the Parc Des Princes but he has only played a handful of games under Mauricio Pochettino at the club.

The 20-year-old could also play on the wing for Marsch’s Leeds United as well as behind another number nine as he played in both roles during the 2021-22 campaign at Lens.

Step on it

Now we have the valuation of Kalimuendo, there is no need to leave the car in park anymore. We need to shift into top gear and gun it to get the deal done.

By signing the Frenchman, we would be getting an already proven goalscorer in one of Europe’s top leagues as well as the almost limitless potential of a 20-year-old who has burst onto the scene.

While he looks a fantastic buy judging purely by his numbers, there could be some concerns that may delay Marsch giving Radrizzani and Victor Orta the green light.

He doesn’t appear to be the hardest-working of strikers which might not go down well with the American coach and his preference to play a high-pressing game.

Kalimuendo is also not the tallest or strongest striker around and the physicality of English football may be a culture shock for him at first but given time, he will come good at Elland Road if we get this deal completed.

In other Leeds United news, despite already signing a right-back in Rasmus Kristensen, the Whites are reportedly in the race to sign another and he’s teammates with Kalimuendo.
