Leeds United to ‘go all in’ on Wilfried Gnonto after what Daniel Farke just did

Daniel Farke has some serious thinking to do as Leeds United take on Swansea City when they return from the international break.

The Whites are in poor form of late and have twice thrown away their lead at the top of the Championship table, sitting level on points with Sheffield United as a result.

After getting back on track during the week with a victory against Millwall, Leeds dropped points away at QPR on Saturday (15 March) after coming from two behind to draw 2-2.

Jermaine Beckford makes Willy Gnonto claim

Although Leeds have been in spectacular form throughout the season so far, their standards dropped again when they took on QPR.

While the Whites deserve credit for coming back from a two-goal deficit, being in that position in the first place was worrying.

It was Brenden Aaronson who was responsible for QPR’s first goal after his pass was intercepted by Koki Saito, who took advantage and put his side ahead.

As a result, Farke made a change at half-time, bringing Willy Gnonto on for the American.

Speaking on LUTV, Jermaine Beckford shared what he expects to happen now, saying: “Going back to what Brenden Aaronson said about his own game before the game started, he needs to bring more goals and more assists to his personal game.

“He hasn’t done that, and Willy Gnonto has been involved in changing the whole outlook of the game. So, from that perspective, I am all in for Willy Gnonto starting the next game.”

Farke has plenty of work to do at Leeds

It cannot be denied that Farke has done an excellent job at Leeds this season, but the dip in form has left many wondering whether his side can achieve their aims of Championship promotion.

The Whites do sit at the top of the table still with a better goal difference than Sheffield United, but for as long as their rivals keep their standards high, Leeds will be forced to do the same.

The international break has potentially come at a good time for the West Yorkshire outfit as it gives them a breather before getting stuck into the biggest part of the season.

Farke needs to be using this time to make some big decisions, though, and he has to be prepared to make the necessary changes to his team to deliver a higher standard of performance and pick up all the points they can.

With that in mind, as Beckford points out, Aaronson’s form has struggled of late with no goals or assists in nine games and bringing Gnonto into the side from the start could be a refresh that is needed.
