Leeds United to finalise transfer for Max Wober this week at Elland Road

Leeds United plans have now emerged as they look to finalise the transfer of Maximilian Wober from Red Bull Salzburg this week.

According to the Daily Mail (02 January, pg 9 The Verdict), the Whites are looking to seal a deal worth up to £14million for the 24-year-old defender.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter (01 January) that an agreement is in place from both the player and the clubs’ side, and that paperwork is being prepared at the moment.

“Leeds United plan to finalise a deal worth up to £14m for 24-year-old Red Bull Salzburg defender Max Wober this week,” reports The Daily Mail.

Early move

It seems like Leeds are desperate to get the deal done quickly and it could happen within the next few days.

Sky Sports Austria reported on 1 January that Red Bull have agreed to bring back Daouda Guindo from his loan spell, which will pave the way for the transfer of Wober to Leeds.

Marcelo Bielsa refused to add a player in the January transfer window last season, and many feel it was one of the major reasons why the club struggled badly in the league.

This time around, the club didn’t make the same mistake. They identified that adding a left-back is a priority, and they wasted no time in getting one.

Wober has made 15 appearances in the Bundesliga this season, and also featured in the Champions League for Salzburg.

Interestingly, he is a natural centre-back but can also play as a left-back, a role currently performed by Pascal Struijk at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, the club is thrashing out terms for an early January signing after this player jetted into the UK for a move.
