Leeds United to do ideal January transfer business despite ‘remarkable’ verdict
Stuart Jamieson has claimed that Leeds United are in a good position heading into the January transfer window with the club not needing to make “season-changing additions”.
The Whites have had an excellent campaign up to now, sitting just two points behind Sunderland and Sheffield United at the top of the table.
Much of that achievement is down to the “remarkable” summer business that Leeds were able to conduct and Jamieson explained how that could impact the White’s priorities in January.
In his story for Leeds Live (21 November) he said: “They may have been resigned to some big names after missing out on promotion at Wembley last May, but they have not allowed the exits of Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter to rock the boat.
“That is all the more remarkable when you consider that Rutter’s departure came so close to the end of the window, and with the season already up and running.
“It means Leeds can enter the January transfer window open to any opportunities to strengthen, but without the pressing need to make season-changing additions to the side.”
Leeds United could prioritise striker signing
If there is one area of the side that could be improved, it is in the striker department. Patrick Bamford has had little impact under Farke this season while Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph have failed to showcase any top level of consistency.
Leeds have goals spread across the team, with Willy Gnonto, Dan James and several others capable of contributing but they need a reliable man up top to guarantee goals.
If the Whites were able to address this, promotion would seem also nailed on due to the amount of quality across the squad as a whole.
While Farke won’t be sweating about the urgency of any signing, January will provide a good opportunity to add depth and quality when and where it becomes available.

It is somewhat of a luxury for a club to have in such a busy period as focuses can be prioritised elsewhere without the stress of concluding a deal for a player capable of changing a season.
Leeds just have to remain consistent to have a chance of promotion, to which they’ve made an excellent start.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites could make a huge promotion statement if they are able to finalise a deal for Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill.
