Leeds United to battle Newcastle in race to sign Moses Simon
Leeds United now have competition in the hunt to sign FC Nantes and Nigeria Moses Simon as Newcastle Untied enter the conversation, according to OwnGoalNigeria.com.
The 26-year-old was one of the stars of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations for Nigeria despite the Super Eagles being knocked out in the round of 16 by Tunisia.
Own Goal Nigeria says that Newcastle are locked in talks over a deal for Simon which would cost roughly £20million but they also insist that Leeds are still keen on signing him in the summer too.

The Magpies are now set to offer the Nigerian a whopping £100,000 per week salary to sign for the club.
Up against it
Whenever Newcastle are involved in transfer negotiations these days, you know that whoever they are up against can’t offer the same money as the Magpies.
Since their Saudi Arabian takeover in October, they have been throwing money around, signing five players in January (Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood, Dan Burn, Matt Targett and Bruno Guimares).

If it isn’t a case of who pays the most though, Leeds should have the upper hand given their much stronger Premier League position – 15th rather than 17th.
Simon would fit in nicely at Elland Road too with an added winger a much-needed commodity in Marcelo Bielsa’s small squad.
Interest in Raphinha may also force the Whites to move for a replacement and the 26-year-old could be the answer that is right under their noses.
So while they might be up against it financially compared to the might of Newcastle, they should still pursue a deal and hope that Simon would prefer a footballing challenge over a pay packet.
