Leeds United to bank £110,000 as FA Cup clash set for BBC coverage in January
Leeds United are set to bank £110,000 as their FA Cup fourth-round clash against Boreham Wood or Accrington Stanley will be televised on the BBC, according to journalist Ollie Bayliss.
The Whites booked their place in the fourth round of the competition after an emphatic 5-2 second-leg win over Championship strugglers Cardiff City.
Bayliss revealed that the Leeds United fourth-round tie has been “added” to the list of fixtures from the cup competition to be shown on BBC.
“Boreham Wood or Accrington Stanley v Leeds United has been added to the list of televised FA Cup 4th Round ties,” revealed Bayliss on his personal Twitter account. (20 January)
“Each club involved in these ties will receive £110,000.”
It’s always nice to have a little cash injection to the club no matter how small it might be in the grand scheme of things.
Who knew progressing in the FA Cup could be so sweet? It’s nice to actually have some cup days to look forward to again this season. And with the more than favourable fourth-round tie, you would fully expect Leeds United and Jesse Marsch to come out of this one unscathed.
Famous last words? Potentially, but this will be the Whites’ best chance at getting some silverware this season and being handed the easiest tie on paper always helps.
Obviously, in the FA Cup, giant killings are a common practice and an away trip to a lower-league club does and will present obstacles.
But with Willy Gnonto on fire and Patrick Bamford back to his scoring self, the squad have more than enough weapons to get this job done quickly.
A trip to Wembley this season? That would be nice, wouldn’t it?
