Leeds United to announce World Cup break friendly v Elche on Tuesday
Leeds United will announce a World Cup break friendly against Elche on Tuesday as the team look to keep things fresh in the absence of competitive football, according to ondacero.es.
The Spanish club are looking to take advantage of the Whites’ stay at Oliva Nova Golf resort with an invite to play at their tournament at the Martínez Valero stadium.
The game will be part of history with the Festa d’Elx celebrating its centenary year meaning Leeds United will go down in the books forever for the fixture.
“Elche CF wants to celebrate the Festa d’Elx , at the beginning of December, in a big way. The franjiverde club prepared the 61st edition of its summer trophy, which this time will be held at the end of autumn,” as quoted by ondacero.es.
“This visit being recorded in history as the Centenary edition.”
Keeping the team fit, fresh and firing is always a good move and a friendly fixture against Elche to be part of history seems like the perfect way to do so.
Maybe Jesse Marsch can try some new defensive tactics? Ones that don’t leak a ridiculous amount of goals.
Perhaps the American can show off the team’s current attacking prowess and frightening counterattacks that have been tearing up opposition recently.
The fixture may actually be a solid chance to give a run out to some of Leeds United’s Premier League 2 stars, it would be a good opportunity for them to prove to Marsch they’re worthy of a place in his first-team squad.
Elche will provide some decent competition for whoever starts for Leeds too, they play their football in the Spanish top flight in La Liga.
Although they currently sit at rock bottom of the league with 0 wins from 14 games, at least they might be out to prove a point.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has revealed the whispers he’s heard at Elland Road about when the 49ers will complete their takeover.
