Leeds United tipped to be in midst of bidding war to sign Kristoffer Klaesson
Leeds United could be forced to enter a bidding war to sign Kristoffer Klaesson, who has been tipped to be Norway’s future number one.
Kiko Casilla completed a move to Elche on loan earlier this week and it’s unlikely that he plays another game for Leeds.
The Whites have already started looking for his replacement and have eyed Klaesson as a possible option to bring to Elland Road this summer.
While he may be a relative unknown for most people following Leeds, Ben Wills, who is an expert on Norwegian football, has waxed lyrical about him.
Speaking to LeedsLive, he said, “I would suggest somewhere around the £1.5million – £2million mark would do the trick. Leeds may be able to get him for less than this fee, due to his contract running down, if they include a few clauses in the deal in VIF’s favour.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if this now public interest in Klaesson attracted a bidding war for his services, as other clubs at a lower level could offer him a quicker route into the starting XI.”
Seems like some talent
Given Wills’ assessment of the player, it’s hard to think that he will not be a good fit for us. Bielsa’s liked to work with younger players and hone their skills into being talents for the future.
Few thought that Illan Meslier would challenge Alban Lafont to be the future French number one, but here we are, and it’s testament to Bielsa for his handling of the player.
Meslier appeared a tad shaky in the first few games of last season but as the campaign wore on we saw a confident young Frenchman in goal for us.
While Klaesson still has a few years to go before he gets to that level, Thorp Arch could be the ideal place for him to develop into an elite keeper as he’s been tipped to become.
Hopefully, we won’t be needed to pay over the top for the player, but if he comes highly recommended by our scouting team and has Bielsa’s seal of approval, then it could be worth exploring.
