Leeds United: Tim Sherwood makes new Premier League promotion verdict live on talkSPORT

Tim Sherwood admits he wants to see Leeds United back in the Premier League as soon as possible in a new admission he made live on talkSPORT on Thursday (29 February).

The former Tottenham manager said he witnessed the celebrations following Leeds’ 3-1 win over Leicester City on February 23 and was hugely impressed.

Consequently, he wants to see Daniel Farke’s men – who have won nine straight Championship fixtures – playing in the top flight next season.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (07:53am), Sherwood said: “I saw them against Leicester City last weekend.

“I just want them back in the Premier League, we miss them in the Premier League, I want them back as soon as possible.”

Will Elland Road be celebrating Leeds United Premier League promotion?

It is a testament to how well Farke has this Leeds side playing that their last-gasp 3-2 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday (28 February) was their first loss of 2024.

The Whites are flying in the league having racked up a stunning nine-game winning streak, the last of which was the comeback victory against the league-leading Foxes that Sherwood mentioned on talkSPORT.

Of course, there are no guarantees in football and Southampton and Ipswich Town will have plenty of say when it comes to automatic promotion, but Leeds right now should be looking up at Leicester not over their shoulders.

If they continue this sensational run they are on under Farke then Leeds will be celebrating an immediate return to the Premier League having been relegated last season and there are plenty that will be delighted about that – including, it would seem, talkSPORT host Sherwood.
