Leeds United teenager Darko Gyabi could make debut v Wolves in Carabao Cup

Leeds United teenager Darko Gyabi could be in line to make his debut in the third round of the Carabao Cup against Wolves on Thursday.

The midfielder was signed from Manchester City around the same time Kalvin Phillips went the other way, but it was not labelled as a swap deal.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay reported that the Whites paid a fee in the region of £5million to sign the English youngster from the defending Premier League champions.

The 18-year-old has been a regular for the under-21s this season as he aims to climb his way up to the first-team picture.

However, he was left out of the squad that beat Newcastle 4-2 on Monday which could be an indicator that the message has been sent from Jesse Marsch that he plans on giving him minutes or at least including him in the matchday squad.

Leeds fans will also be excited to see why the club spent a decent amount of money on a player that they had previously not heard of.

Gyabi is still to make his senior debut, let alone for Leeds, so it will be a big step in his career as well if Marsch gives him the nod to play in this one.

The Whites have a number of talented youngsters that will be eager to prove why they can replicate what Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville have done recently and we’re excited to see how many of them are given a chance throughout the course of the season.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could now be looking to sign an award-winning Ligue 1 ace to bring to Elland Road in January.
