Leeds United target Vitinha set to sign for Paris Saint-Germain

Leeds United have received a blow in the transfer market with midfield target Vitinha set to sign for Paris Saint-Germain, 90min reports.

The French giants have triggered his €40million release clause and he has agreed a five-year deal at the Parc de Princes.

The 22-year-old, who had previously spent time on loan at Wolves, was attracting wide-spread interest after a strong season in Portugal.

According to 90min, Manchester United, Arsenal, West Ham, Leeds, Everton and Newcastle were all “keeping tabs” on him as a result.

Fabrizio Romano claimed on Twitter that there was only one English side who were interested, although he only specified that it wasn’t the Old Trafford side, but has confirmed that paperwork and a medical in Paris are now due.

Bypassed

Despite the signing of Marc Roca from Bayern Munich the Whites are still after further help in midfield, especially if Kalvin Phillips leaves.

The Portuguese international would clearly have been a strong addition but whether they would have been willing to offer that amount money is debatable.

They have already spent close to £45million on Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Roca, and may have more than one position still to strengthen.

Once a club the size of PSG joins the race then virtually every club in world football will be struggling to come out on top.

If the departures of either of the Elland Road stars, Kalvin Phillips or Raphinha, end up being confirmed in the coming weeks there should be a sizeable cash injection.

But while they were able to win the race to Roca ahead of a number of sides across Europe, they have to search for targets that haven’t yet caught the eye of the very top clubs to continue the incoming business.

In other Leeds United news, the club are in the mix for a top goalscoring prospect who was not expected to be available.
