Leeds United target Joe White set to be offered new deal at Newcastle

Newcastle are set to offer a new deal to midfielder Joe White, who Leeds United reportedly bid for last summer.

According to The Chronicle, the Toons rejected the Whites’ move for the 19-year-old last summer and are now set to reward him with a new contract.

His current deal at St. James’ Park runs out soon and Newcastle are keen on keeping him on their books for a while.

Good option

It’s not a huge secret that Leeds have been looking to sign a midfielder since last summer and have failed to bring the likes of Rodrigo de Paul and Lewis O’Brien to the club.

While White is still very young to walk into the playing eleven, he could be on the periphery of Marcelo Bielsa’s side and eventually become a regular.

The Argentine is known to value players who perform well in training and from what we’ve read of White, he appears to be the real deal with a bright future.

The Chronicle report cited above labels him as an “exciting” player and that is synonymous with the brand of football we’re used to seeing at Elland Road.

We’re hoping that he doesn’t commit his future to the Toons as he can do so much better and get the chance of working under Bielsa.

It remains to be seen how things transpire with White and Leeds should test the waters with a bid before it becomes too late.
