Barcelona in pole position to sign Leeds target Arthur Cabral
Barcelona are negotiating a deal for Arthur Cabral to sign him in the January transfer window, and Leeds United must act quickly.
According to reports from Sport, the Catalan giants are in pole position to sign the Basel striker as they look to reinforce their forward department.
He has been in “spectacular” form this season, managing 23 goals and eight assists in all competitions.
The Whites should look to bolster their squad in January, and adding another striker to the ranks will be useful. Cabral should be top of their priority list.
Earlier this month, ESPN reported that Leeds are among a big group of clubs looking to sign the striker, with his agent, Paulo Pitombeira initiating contacts with some already.
Raphinha can play a big part in luring Cabral to Elland Road, as both plays for Brazil.
Joe Gelhardt has been progressing well and made his Premier League debut against Spurs last week. But he is still very young, and Leeds need to be very careful with him.
The first-team squad need experienced players, and Cabral fits the bill.
He has a contract at the club till 2023, and it has been reported that Basel would be willing to part ways with the striker.
Cabral would cost in the region £12.5-£16 million, and it is well within Leeds’ budget.
Obviously, Barcelona represents a bigger attraction, but he could be tempted with the lure of regular games in the Premier League.
Leeds should make an attempt to sign him in January.
In other Leeds United news, the club are tracking a contract rebel who they are keen on signing in January
