Leeds United target Adam Wharton to be excellent player at Elland Road - talkSPORT pundit
Carlton Palmer gushes over Leeds United target Adam Wharton and believes he’ll be a good addition at Elland Road amid transfer links.
Football League World reported on 22 May that the Whites have watched the Blackburn Rovers midfielder on numerous occasions this season.
Blackburn director of football Gregg Broughton recently said that it would take a big offer for them to consider his sale in the summer.
Speaking to Football League world, Palmer, a talkSPORT pundit, said, “Leeds United are the latest club to be linked with Blackburn’s talented midfielder Adam Wharton – the 18-year-old has been well coveted in recent weeks by a lot of Premier League clubs.
“Rovers will be worried about losing him given the amount of interest that has been showed in him, but they are protected as he’s under contract until the summer of 2027.
“So, the final decision ultimately whether he leaves or stays is down to the club.

“He would be an excellent signing for any club, a left-footer who can play and likes a tackle, very much one for the future.”
Focus on the first team
Leeds are in no position to spend ridiculous amounts of money on signing 18-year-olds for the future as they’ve got more pressing issues to deal with.
If they somehow manage to avoid relegation, which will require a final day miracle, then they need to strengthen the first team.
Before that, they need to sort out a new manager and sporting director and then deal with the outgoings as there’s a lot of deadweight in the ranks.
It also remains to be seen what they do with Georginio Rutter and whether or not they try to sell him if they get a good offer for him.
He’s not rated by two managers and there’s a good chance that whoever succeeds Sam Allardyce may consider getting in a better striker.
Junior Firpo, Luke Ayling, Diego Llorente, Illan Meslier and Patrick Bamford have all been linked with an exit and it remains to be seen if they’re at the club next season.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that an international player at Elland Road has no place at the club next season and a summer transfer is on the cards.
