Leeds United takeover developments cause issues in Premier League as ‘skin-of-their-teeth’ verdict shared by Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson has claimed the 49ers’ proposed takeover of Leeds United has caused issues over the last two seasons for the West Yorkshire side.

The Whites narrowly avoided relegation on the last day of the 2021/22 season and are once again embroiled in a hotly contested dogfight this season.

Robinson feels the level of investment has caused issues over the past year with delayed takeover having an impact.

“I think the takeover being put off for so long has had an impact over the past two transfer windows,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“Last season they were lucky to stay in the Premier League and Radrizzani didn’t invest anything in the January window. They stayed in the league by the skin of their teeth.

“They invested a little bit this season but it’s not the level of investment or wage bill to compete with other clubs. A very good gauge is to look at the wage bill and investment and Leeds are about where they should be.”

The 49ers are set to take control of the club in January 2024, however there has been talk of the date being pushed forward to the end of the 2022/23 season.

In other Leeds United news, the club have already made the decision to splash plenty of cash on one man this summer.
