Leeds United taken aback as Newcastle make ‘strong push’ to sign Jack Harrison

Newcastle United are continuing to track Leeds United winger Jack Harrison, as per Dean Jones.

The former Bleacher Report journalist wrote for Give Me Sport on 21 July that the Whites are not tempted to cash in on the player at the moment.

Jones reports that Leeds were open to the fact that both Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha would leave at some point, but they had not anticipated a “strong push” from any Premier League side for Harrison.

The Magpies value the player at around £20 million region, but Leeds reportedly want a fee of around £36m [TMW].

Transfer stance

Newcastle feel that Harrison would be a perfect addition, and they admire his qualities.

The interest in Harrison has taken the club by surprise, but it’s something Leeds can do very little about.

The Whites have shown this summer they are not going to buckle under pressure. If Newcastle are serious about signing him, they must meet the club’s asking price.

Harrison has been a mainstay of the side for four seasons, but he still has two years left on his current deal.

The former Manchester City winger is a model professional and he is unlikely to agitate a move. But his head can be turned around if the Magpies do come up with a very good offer.

Leeds have done extremely well to bolster their attacking department, and the Whites could be forced to delve into the market should Harrison leave.

If he stays put, Leeds must secure his future with an improved contract deal.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are ready to sign off on this major new signing but it’s dependent upon one factor.
