Leeds United take Cody Drameh contact off the table ahead of January transfer window

Leeds United have reportedly taken Cody Drameh’s contract extension off the table ahead of the January transfer window with a move likely.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post [28 November], there appears to be little to no chance of the 20-year-old penning an extension to a contract on his deal which runs out 18 months later.

Earlier, it seemed like there would be a positive move from Drameh’s camp but they no longer can change their mind with the offer being withdrawn by the club.

Bad move

Luke Ayling’s best days are behind him and eventually he will also leave the club after years of loyal service to the Elland Road outfit.

However, for the club to let go of one of their best young players who can develop into a first-team regular is baffling, to say the least.

He went out on loan last January against Marcelo Bielsa’s wishes but it turned out to be a good move as he was voted Cardiff City’s Player of the Season despite being there only for a few months.

At 20, he still has plenty of years to improve and surely someone at Leeds should’ve convinced him to stay if that meant letting him go on loan again.

He’s versatile enough to play at centre-back and left-back as well and the Whites hierarchy may live to regret this decision on a player who’s made seven senior appearances for them.

There is interest in his services from a number of top-flight clubs and if he ends up going on to become a success, it will be a constant reminder of what could’ve been.
