Daniel Farke has ‘money to burn’ as Leeds United table Matt O’Riley bid to Celtic to team with Glen Kamara from Rangers

Leeds United have tabled a bid to Celtic for Danish midfielder Matt O’Riley that has already been rejected, according to the Scottish Sun.

The paper reported via their website Wednesday (30 August) that the reigning SPFL champions are “determined” to keep the 22-year-old but are “bracing themselves for another offer before the deadline”.

According to The Sun Daniel Farke has “money to burn” and is looking to “team” O’Riley with Rangers rival Glen Kamara, with the Finland international’s long-awaited Elland Road move now “on the brink”.

The Whites have made offers for multiple midfielders in the past week but have seen a move for German international Nadiem Amiri collapse and another bid rejected by Norwich City for Kenny McLean.

Serious

It doesn’t look like Leeds United are going to end the transfer window wondering in terms of their pursuit of midfielders as they appear to be putting cash on the table at any club with a potentially viable option.

Kamara is widely reported to be the most certain but even that feels like it has been about to happen for so long it might be making some supporters uncomfortable the longer it is delayed.

With Amiri’s move off, and both O’Riley and McLean looking tricky if their clubs aren’t interested in a deal, multiple options could quickly dwindle.

Ao Tanaka from Fortuna Dusseldorf seems to be more doable as he is both cheap and apparently available, after the Whites made yet another bid.

It would appear that Farke definitely wants more than one new addition to his midfield before the window shuts, having started Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray in every game so far.

Plenty can change in the final hours before the deadline and Leeds United look to be trying virtually every option available to them at the moment.

It doesn’t sound like they are ready to take no for an answer from Celtic just yet so it is possible that a new arrival comes in from either side of Glasgow still.
