Leeds United table £30million bid for Wolves winger Adama Traore
Leeds United have submitted a £30million bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traore, according to The Times journalist Duncan Castles.
However, the Spain international is not interested in moving to Elland Road as he is looking for a side offering Champions League football.
The reliable journalist claimed on The Transfer Window podcast that Wolves are keen on selling the 25-year-old, and could now look elsewhere after Traore indicated he does not want to join Leeds.
We smashed our transfer record last summer to bring Rodrigo from Valencia for £27million, and we are definitely going to break it soon given the nature of the transfer market.
Leeds could do with a Traore in attack given his electric pace and ability to beat his marker comfortably, but we doubt if he is really worth £30million.
Castles is a reliable journalist, and this particular report could be true, but it is no surprise that the Spaniard wants to move to a Champions League side.
However, a move to Elland Road is what he really needs if he wants to move to the next level of his career.
Head coach Marcelo Bielsa is the perfect man to bring out the best in him and get him firing on all cylinders.
We all know the final product has been a major weakness of Traore’s game, and while he continues to divide opinion, he is a weapon any top side would want.
Leeds need another attacker next season to strengthen our depth in the final third, but it appears we have to look elsewhere.
The Barcelona academy graduate ended last season with two Premier League goals and two assists, with his return of four goals and nine assists from 2019-20 his best return in the top-flight.
Not particularly worth £30million.
