Leeds United surprise team news drops: Liam Cooper doubtful v Brighton
Leeds United look likely to be without Liam Cooper yet again on Saturday 11 March against Brighton, as he remains doubtful, according to The Independent.
The newspaper shared the latest after the “surprise” team news that Rodrigo could return at Elland Road alongside Luis Sinisterra for the blunt Whites this weekend.
Javi Gracia did not mention Cooper in his update, but the news dropped away from Thorp Arch appears to share that the skipper will not be involved again.
Writing in their latest update on their website, news on the rest of the squad was shared: “Forward Patrick Bamford is hoping to return to contention after missing out at Chelsea due to a knock.
“While defender Liam Cooper remains doubtful after missing the last six games due to a muscle strain.”
Always one out.
Having a fully-fit squad is something that rarely happens in football, but Leeds United appear to be hit by bad luck more than most in that specific area.
Cooper appeared to drop off the face of the earth with no real explanation and hasn’t been seen since, something that many fans would not actually mind.
Having the Scotland international fit would be very good news, even if it is to sit on the bench, with Robin Koch and Max Wober building a better relationship in recent weeks.
But, if another injury struck one of those two, Luke Ayling or Pascal Struijk would need to go into the middle after playing at full-back for years now.
That, or Diogo Monteiro would need to make his full debut, and no one wants that during this feisty relegation battle in the Premier League.
If Patrick Bamford also returns alongside the surprise duo of Sinisterra and Rodrigo, surely this shocking goalless run would not continue at Elland Road, fingers crossed.
