Crysencio Summerville suffers major Leeds United injury blow in clash v Elche

Crysencio Summerville suffered a major injury blow in Leeds United’s friendly clash against Elche on 8 December in Spain.

It was only two minutes into the game when Summerville made one of his sharp runs into Elche’s box, which saw an unfortunate clash with defender John Nwankwo.

Tony Dorigo, who was commentating on the fixture on Leeds United’s YouTube channel confessed that the injury to Summerville “is not good”.

“Clearly he has something tweaked, this is not good news,” said Dorigo on the live commentary of the game on YouTube.

It’s the kind of nightmare news Whites don’t want to hear right now and it looks like Summerville may be out of upcoming Premier League fixtures.

Summerville has been vital to everything good Leeds United have done in their most recent Premier League outings and this injury blow is massive.

The extent of the injury has yet to be confirmed but as Dorigo highlighted during the live commentary of the game, it doesn’t look good.

It was an awkward collision and one that saw the young Dutchman quickly pull up, with luck, his substitution will be more of a precaution for future games.

Nevertheless, that may be wishful thinking, Marsch will be wanting his players to get as many minutes as possible before the Premier League return on 28 December.

If Summerville’s absence is long-term it will have to catapult the Whites into some January transfer window action, this has highlighted the need for depth in forward positions yet again.

We have our fingers and toes crossed for the young Summerville, if there is one player who doesn’t deserve this right now, it’s him.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now scouting an attacker at the World Cup and a January move appears to be on the cards for them.
