Leeds United submit bid for Gustavo Hamer, Coventry City respond as medical scheduled
Leeds United had a bid for Gustavo Hamer seen off by Coventry City, with the player now set to join Sheffield United, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist reported on his Patreon on Friday (11 August) that the midfielder will have a Blades medical after agreeing a £15million move.
The impending transfer comes after both Leeds and newly-promoted Burnley had offers declined for the Brazilian, Nixon added.

“Gustavo Hamer is on his way to Sheffield United after Coventry chief Mark Robins was left stunned by the swoop,” Nixon wrote on his Patreon. “Brazilian star Hamer will have a medical at Bramall Lane after the clubs agreed a deal worth up to £15million.
“The Sky Blues had previously seen off offers from Burnley and Leeds before the Blades came in with the cash from the sale of Sander Berge to Burnley.”

Missed out
Leeds may have fancied their chances of persuading Hamer to come to Elland Road this summer, even with their relegation from the Premier League.
But the Whites were perhaps always the underdogs in the race for his signature given the interest from both Sheffield United and Burnley, both of which are now Premier League clubs following their promotion last season.
Still, it’s a blow for Daniel Farke, who is working hard to improve his squad amid the constant losses of key players.
The Whites didn’t get their new league campaign off to the best of starts, having drawn 2-2 with Cardiff City on Sunday (6 August).
They did, however, grab their first win in the 2-1 League Cup first round win over Shrewsbury Town on Wednesday (9 August).
After bringing in Karl Darlow, Sam Byram and Ethan Ampadu, more new faces are definitely needed if the West Yorkshire club wish to gain promotion back to the Premier League this season.
In other Leeds United news, the West Yorkshire broke a six-year Sky Sports record in their 2-2 draw with Cardiff.
