Leeds United: Stuart Dallas suffers fresh injury setback as Daniel Farke reveals potential return date
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has revealed that Stuart Dallas has suffered a fresh injury setback as he looks to return to full fitness.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against QPR on Wednesday (4 October), the Whites boss said (via the Yorkshire Evening Post) that the Northern Irishman has had to return to working individually again after a “little setback”.
But he added that the 32-year-old will return to team training in “one or two days” and that it will be “a few weeks” before he can be considered for selection at Elland Road.
“Stuart Dallas has joined us in team training already, but in the last days he had to return to individual training so he’ll be back again in the next few days,” said Farke.
“There was a little setback in training and, for that, he had to return to individual rehab but in one or two days he will return to team training.
“It’s good that he’s that close, it’s always good when he’s back on the training pitch. It’ll last a few weeks before he’s a topic for selection.”
Nothing to worry about
It doesn’t seem as though this minor setback for Dallas is too much to worry about as he continues with his rehab from a leg fracture suffered in April 2022.
Farke revealed that he will be back training with the rest of the players in the next couple of days, so it is probably just a precaution on the back of such a horrible injury.
It probably won’t have come as too much of a surprise to the Northern Irishman and the medical staff as they would’ve been prepared for moments like this.
You can tell from the German’s comments that he is already fond of Dallas – like just about everyone associated with the Whites – even though he hasn’t played for him yet.
It will be great to see him back out on the pitch in the coming weeks if possible, but it’s clear that there won’t be any unnecessary risks being taken to ensure that happens.
