Leeds United target Bamba Dieng has reportedly been offered to Everton with Fulham also keen on signing the Marseille striker.
According to the Irish Daily Star (August 17, page 45), the 22-year-old seems set to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer after falling down the pecking order there.
With them signing Alexis Sanchez, his chances of regular game time are further reduced with a transfer being the most viable option.
If Leeds really want Dieng then they’ve got to act soon as the market appears to be heating up for the Senegal international.
They should have better chances than Everton to sign him as they’re not in a financial mess and have also raised a lot of money by selling two key players.
However, whether or not the 22-year-old is the right man to replace Patrick Bamford as a regular starter is another question altogether.
Last season, in 25 Ligue 1 games, he only managed to score 7 goals – which is rather underwhelming considering the quality of the league.
In the Premier League, he’s going to find it harder to muster goal-scoring opportunities and his numbers are unlikely to increase at Elland Road.
Leeds are better off looking at strikers with a better goal-scoring record than sign someone who’s already on the fringes at his current club.
