Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford responds to question about bandaged right ankle

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has allayed fears he could miss Saturday’s clash with West Ham after being spotted with a bandaged ankle.

LUFC Fanzone shared the 28-year-old’s exchange with someone at a cycling event in Leeds on Monday [20/09/21].

They wrote on Twitter: “Patrick Bamford himself has now posted about the cycle event he was at today in Leeds. Someone who was at the event (who told us about his absence) asked about his bandaged right ankle, which you can see in this photo, but he said he was ok for West Ham.”

Raring to go

Bamford must be chomping at the bit to be starting at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

After five games, the Whites are yet to register a Premier League win and last season’s talisman has just one goal to his name during the 2021/22 campaign, against Burnley on August 29.

That’s a far cry from the stunning start he made to last season which ended up with him scoring 17 Premier League goals.

Leeds United

He’s unlikely to be afforded an easy route to goal on Saturday, however, against a West Ham side that have kept two clean sheets in their last three games, and it took Cristiano Ronaldo and a Jesse Lingard wondergoal for Manchester United to hand them their first Premier League defeat on Sunday.

Bamford should be well-rested, though, as it looks like he has been left out of the squad that faces Fulham in the League Cup on Tuesday [LUFC Fanzone on Twitter].
