Leeds United could now seal a permanent transfer for Manchester United midfielder James Garner this summer, according to The Athletic.

The online source has reported on its website that the Red Devils value the young maestro at around £14million with numerous clubs interested in a move.

Everton, Southampton and Spurs are said to be three of the interested parties, although a move will only happen if it makes sense for all parties this month.

Writing in their latest snippet for The Athletic, Laurie Whitwell shared the latest on a potential exit from Old Trafford for the young midfielder.

“Manchester United are open to permanent offers for James Garner, with several Premier League clubs interested in a move,” they wrote.

“Erik ten Hag has decided that Garner should be allowed to leave if a suitable bid arrives for the 21-year-old midfielder. Sources say United value Garner at around £14million.

“Everton, Southampton and Leeds have all shown interest in Garner. Tottenham Hotspur have also watched him. A departure will only take place if it makes sense for player and club.”

Not needed?

It feels strange to say, but Leeds may no longer need another midfielder.

After years of crying out for reinforcements in that area, Tyler Adams and Marc Roca have both been signed, and have started the two opening Premier League fixtures.

Yes, Kalvin Phillips has left but with the two new signings, we still have Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich to come off the bench if needed in games.

£14million may represent good value for money for Garner, but right now, Leeds just have much bigger priorities, including a new left-back and striker.

With Patrick Bamford being forced off against Southampton over the weekend, all eyes are now on the final third, and no one will likely give a second thought to midfield additions.

If a move doesn’t happen this summer for Garner, this is certainly one that may be revisited in the future, but we certainly can’t see it happening this month.
