Leeds United still interested in trio of signings in final hour of transfer Deadline Day

Leeds United are still interested in signing a trio of players before the transfer window closes at 11pm, according to Darren Witcoop.

The Mirror journalist reported via X [1 February] that the Whites are still wanting to sign Connor Roberts and a new centre-back, as well as Manuel Benson from Burnley.

It is understood that the Clarets winger is wanted to replace Ian Poveda, who has now joined Sheffield Wednesday, although this one has been rated as unlikely.

It could be too little too late

With a whole month to make agreements and signings, it seems extremely foolish to wait right before the transfer deadline to finalise deals, especially for players of such high calibre.

Daniel Farke made it clear very early on that at least one full-back was a main priority, yet the club are still scrambling to find a player with just minutes left of the transfer window.

With Roberts having completed his medical, it looks as though he will definitely be done, but the other two look as though they will pass by in West Yorkshire with no progress.

With so many outgoings during the current window, it is understandable as to why Leeds fans are so frustrated with the lack of transfers. Leeds are going to need as much depth as possible if they are to accomplish their aim of Premier League promotion.

The idea to sign players in these positions is a smart one, aiming for cover and depth in multiple areas. But it could certainly be too little too late for the Whites.

In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Whites are set to make an offer for a mystery defender.
