Leeds United are still in talks with Newcastle United over a potential move for Jack Harrison this summer, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper has reported on its website that the Whites are beginning to frustrate the mega-rich club as the final week of the window kicks off.

Leeds are said to be demanding in excess of £40million now with Harrison starting the Premier League season on fire at Elland Road, grabbing his first goal against Chelsea.

It is said that there is still a chance of Harrison leaving West Yorkshire over the next week.

Newcastle are reported to have not ended their interest in the winger yet, but there is little chance of progress being made as things stand between the two clubs.

That is because Leeds would need to lower their valuation of the attacker dramatically, something that certainly won’t happen given his form at the start of this season.

£50million+.

Never mind that current valuation, the way Harrison is playing right now will see that skyrocket.

Leeds don’t need the funds having sold Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips, and using that money to strengthen their squad without any actual spending of their own money.

With Raphinha leaving, Harrison has become the main wide man at Elland Road, and that is something that he is relishing already and long may that continue.

Jesse Marsch will no doubt be building this side around the winger, and with the World Cup coming up at the end of this year, he will just be concentrating on Leeds, not a big-pressure move elsewhere.

A new contract is more likely given he goes into his final year after this season, so expect those talks to gather pace once the window has slammed shut next week.

£40million+ would be huge money, we can’t deny that, but Newcastle are trying to lowball everyone they can, and that isn’t going to happen here – time to leave them behind.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites now want to sign this striker with a rival set to kickstart a major £30million+ transfer battle
