Leeds United starlet Crysenico Summerville emerges as star of pre-season

Leeds United starlet Crysenico Summerville has wowed Joe Donnohue with his displays in pre-season for the Whites’ Under-23s.

The winger was handed a 9/10 rating by the LeedsLive reporter in his pre-season ratings, and described the 19-year-old’s performances in pre-season as “excellent”.

Donnohue also believes that he has “come on leaps and bounds” and thinks that his performances in pre-season would have been noticed by Marcelo Bielsa ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Could we see Summerville in the first team?

Leeds signed the winger in the last summer transfer window from Feyenoord’s Under-19s, and he made 14 appearances last season and scored six goals as well as providing seven assists, which was a good return for his first season in England.

However, he has looked like a man possessed in pre-season, and you would think he could be knocking on the door of the first team.

Especially because Ian Poveda didn’t feature for Leeds’ first team in pre-season, and Helder Costa continued to struggle [LeedsLive].

So, there could be an opportunity for the young Dutchman to stake a place in Bielsa’s first team this season.

If he is deemed good enough, the Argentine won’t be afraid to throw him into the action at some point.

Clearly, he impressed Donnohue, and we would love to see Summerville get a chance in the first team at some point this season, either in the cup or in the Premier League.
