Leeds United star Stuart Dallas sends message to Steven Davis after Rangers development

Leeds United star Stuart Dallas has sent a heartfelt message to Steven Davis after the former Rangers ace announced his retirement.

As per the official Gers website (25 January), the 39-year-old has called time on his career, having had two spells at Ibrox.

The former Northern Ireland captain also represented the likes of Southampton, Aston Villa and Fulham in the Premier League.

In a lengthy message on Instagram, Davis wrote: “After much deliberation and conversations with my close family, friends and medical staff, I have decided to call time on my career.”

Among those sending messages to the player was his compatriot Dallas, who wrote: “Captain, leader, legend, congratulations on an incredible career. Simply the best.”

Stunning career

Davis really did enjoy a stunning career, with the midfielder retiring as the most capped British men’s footballer ever. The veteran represented Northern Ireland over 130 times, playing alongside Leeds ace Dallas on many occasions.

Sadly, Davis has been forced into the decision due to injury, with Dallas currently out of action due to a similarly serious injury.

Daniel Farke will, however, be confident that Dallas can return to his squad soon, in what will be a massive boost for the Whites as they seek promotion back to the Premier League.

The versatile player had been a star man for Leeds before his injury, with Davis having had a similar impact during his second spell at Rangers.

The midfielder can retire with his head held very high, with Davis winning plenty of silverware during his lengthy career.

Leeds United

The Ibrox legend made over 350 appearances for the Gers, as well as managing them on an interim basis following the dismissal of Michael Beale.

In other Leeds United news, one club needs all the cash they can get to sign a Whites loanee permanently, with a semi-final spot vital.
