MOT View: Leeds star risks upsetting former club with ‘party’ claim Whites fans will love

Tyler Roberts has risked upsetting his former club West Brom after picking the 4-0 demolition job at Elland Road as his favourite-ever Leeds United moment.

But Leeds fans will absolutely love it.

Roberts joined from West Brom in January 2018 for a fee of around £2.5m after making just one cameo appearances for the Baggies.

Roberts played the full 90 minutes in the 4-0 win against West Brom at Elland Road last season and made two of the goals for Patrick Bamford.

The game got off to the best possible start for Leeds, though, with a goal for Pablo Hernandez after just 17 seconds.

That got Elland Road “bouncing” and Roberts said he’d never experienced playing in “that sort of atmosphere before”.

On the official Leeds site, Roberts was asked “What’s your favourite Leeds United moment so far?”

He replied saying, “West Brom at home last season. Not just because it was my old team, because there were no wrongdoings or anything like that.

“I just think the atmosphere that was created by the fans, I’ve never experienced playing in something like that before, it was like a party inside of the stadium.

“Because we scored so early, for the whole game it was bouncing, it was so sick.”

Leeds fans are the best in the Championship and there’s nothing like a rocking Elland Road in English football.

The 4-0 win against West Brom kick-started a run of three wins that was ended by Sheffield United, who went on to pip Leeds to second spot.

There was a real feeling at Elland Road that day that Leeds were going to get promoted and it’s sad that’s not the way the season tuned out.

However, the good times came back in the 19/20 season as Marcelo Bielsa stayed for another crack at one of the toughest leagues in the world.

There are nine games left in the season and Leeds are top of the league and on the brink of a return to the big time.

However, what’s happened since the last win against Huddersfield on March 7 is scarcely believable.
