Leeds United star Raphinha has been warned he might have to leave

Rivaldo has warned Raphinha that he might have to leave Leeds United if he wants to continue playing for Brazil.

Speaking exclusively to BetFair, the former Champions League winner thinks that a move to Liverpool would ensure that he remains in Tite’s side.

Raphinha’s agent confirmed recently that the Anfield-based side like him, and it appears as if Rivaldo would like to see it happen [Globo Esporte].

He said: “Raphinha performed well on his debut for Brazil, but he was already shining in the Premier League with Leeds United, and there are rumours of interest from Liverpool.

“If he were to make the move, he [might] not be a regular starter, but I’m sure it would be a big step in his career since it would allow him to compete for titles and play in the Champions League, which could be crucial for more call ups into the Brazilian national team.

“He has the quality to play for a bigger club. He is playing excellent football, and a player always wants more and stronger challenges, so he would benefit from a transfer.”

Interesting point from Rivaldo.

Now, in some ways, we can see why Rivaldo has said this because, in some international teams, the standard of the club is considered when selecting players.

However, Raphinha got a Brazil call-up while he was with Leeds, who aren’t in the Champions League, which suggests that moving to a Champions League side might not be essential for the Brazilian’s international chances.

Of course, the time will probably come when Raphinha wants to move and play Champions League football, and that is fair enough.

However, we don’t see why that would be any time soon if Tite continues to pick him for the Brazil squad.

The truth is, after his first three performances for his country, we can’t imagine that he will be allowed to ignore him by the Brazilian football fans who don’t care who he plays for.

So, we can see why Rivaldo said this in some ways, but in others, we are struggling to work out his point.
